04 Jul A jar of gratitude
The new Islamic year of 1438 has begun, and with that, my annual, personal tradition or habit that I look forward to. A few years ago, I set up a ‘Heart Song Jar’: each day, after journalling, I take a small piece of paper & write down one incident or memory which happened that day – something that either caused my soul to soar or scar.
Then I fold that piece of paper, leaving it in the jar for the rest of the year. Today I sat down and opened hundreds of these little pieces of paper, these memories : and I was over-awed by how kind Allah has been to me, how much I’ve learnt – even through pain – and the humbling reality of how much I need to still conquer within.
Fresh starts. New beginnings. The internal Hijrah continues, bi ithnillah. I have my jar prepped am& ready for the year 1438 AH. Care to join me? 💓 🌟🌟🌟”And you? When will you begin that long journey into yourself?” [Rumi] 🌟🌟🌟
May the year ahead be filled with goodness, blessings, peace, safety, firm conviction and inspiring faith.
