Our Women of Resilience

Every year, the 9th of August is National Women’s Day in South Africa. Women from all over the country stand together to honour and celebrate the brave women who marched to the Union buildings, over 60 years ago, during the height of apartheid.
This year’s theme, in line with the International Women’s Day theme, is : “Be Bold for Change.” If ever I have witnessed what it means to be bold, steadfast, and resilient, then it is through the image of the Palestinian, Maqdisi women.
Defying all odds, they continue to nurture, grow, mould, and shape the future of Palestine. They represent light, hope and spiritual resilience, inspiring not only Palestinians, but peace loving individuals the world over.
They are to be honoured, respected, and remembered. Every day, is women’s day.
