Let your pile of good things grow

There’s this quote by author Rainbow Powell from the book Attachments that I just love.

Powell writes, “So what if, instead of thinking about solving your whole life, you just think about adding additional good things. One at a time. Just let your pile of good things grow.”

The simplicity of this advice is so wonderful to me! It’s not about making a major overhaul to our lives or doing something drastic. It’s just a slow and steady approach to adding more good to our lives.

Step by step. One good thing at a time.

When I imagine that pile of good things, it reminds me that there is so much to be grateful for!

I love the idea of focusing on the simple intention to add more: more love, more grace, more humour, more compassion, more self-compassion, more joy, more gratitude!

And I love the idea of watching that pile grow bigger and bigger and bigger over time.

How wonderful would it be to approach life this way? What if we released ourselves from the need to solve everything, and instead just asked ourselves to make a commitment to add more good things to each day?

So, let’s give it a try! Right here, right now, I encourage you to take a moment to think about just one, little, good thing that you can add in today.

What will it be?
